This years Gap Arts Festival Logo was inspired by an German Artsist called Peter Kogler .

I came across his exhibition in Brussels by accident and was amazed by how his simple line drawing full-room installation could alter space. I suppose its obvious if you think about it but Kogler really explored it deeply and has transformed all types of spaces into fun and interesting places.

At first the idea was to somehow create a line drawing like Kogler giving a 3D effect to the GAP Arts Festival  program – but I soon found out that the same effect would be lost on smaller media and would be hard to create a logo that would have impact. However exploring his online gallery I found a set of black/white building projections which created interesting geometric shapes.

One shot stood out in particular as I could see it working on a Program Cover and the colours were taken from another installation he did exploring the brain where he use really bright colours – I mashed the 2 together to created the logo and program and I’m very happy with the result.
